Electrical Engineer, Journeyman (Instrumentation)

Job Responsibilities:

This position will support the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) Branch. Responsibilities include researching, designing, developing, testing, and/or supervising the manufacturing and installation of electrical equipment, components, or systems for commercial, industrial, military, or scientific use. Will apply engineering principles to investigate, analyze, plan, design, develop, implement, test, and evaluate airborne platforms, weapons, and avionics. May develop, operate, and maintain automated electromagnetic data acquisition equipment for the collection of induced electromagnetic transient data. Tasks also include analyzing, designing, developing, implementing, testing, and evaluating automated data processing software related to engineering or functional requirements of electromagnetic transient data collection. Other responsibilities involve providing input for test methods and procedures. May perform as an engineering team lead, develop engineering procedures and controls, manage project efforts, and take the initiative in problem resolution. Additional duties involve interfacing with system or program contractors, vendors, and government representatives regarding the technical aspects of engineering programs/projects, test scheduling/planning, and test execution. Qualifications & Requirements:

  • A BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited ABET college or university and three (3) years’ experience in electrical engineering; OR an AA/AS Degree plus an additional four (4) years of related experience; OR a HS diploma/GED with an additional six (6) years of related experience may be substituted for the BA/BS degree.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, possess a valid U.S. driver’s license, pass a drug screening test IAW U.S. Government standards, and obtain and retain a Secret level DoD security clearance.
  • Experience with radio frequency, electromagnetics, signal analysis, automated electromagnetic data acquisition equipment, Matlab, and LabVIEW software is highly desired.
