NRL Electronics Technician:

Job Responsibilities:

This position supports the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) Advanced Techniques Branch, Digital Technologies Section of the Tactical Electronic Warfare Division (TEW). Responsibilities include providing engineering support, maintenance, and testing services necessary to conduct EW Simulation research, development, test, and evaluation (RDT&E). Duties involve assisting in the electrical and mechanical design, development, operation, and maintenance of Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) and Radio Frequency (RF) missile simulators and related equipment. Other tasks may involve interpreting and generating engineering data, design specifications, schematics, and installation drawings to support design, modification, and installation of flyable and land-based simulators and data collection devices. Other functions include conducting engineering analysis and performance evaluations of EW systems. Some travel will be required. May be tasked to perform additional duties on an as-needed basis. Position located at Naval Research Laboratory, DC. May work at other locations, to include NRL facilities, field sites, and aboard airborne commercial RDT&E aircraft during test flight events. Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Position requires an Associate Degree from a technical training school OR completion of military technical training schools.
  • Must have seven (7) years of experience in design, fabrication, and installation of mechanical enclosures and electrical wiring, cables, harnesses, and connectors.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and possess a Top Secret level DoD security clearance.
  • Must be aeronautically adapted, to include being free from motion sickness and claustrophobia, while operating airborne EW simulator systems during test flight events.
  • Experience with CAD programs and reading mechanical plans; fabricating brackets, holders, and other mechanical fixtures; and installing and repairing EW systems on military aircraft is highly desired.
