Armament/Weapons Support Equipment (AWSE) Engineering Technician:
Requires a high school diploma/GED and completion of a military/technical trade school resulting in an Aviation Ordnanceman (AO) Navy Occupational Specialty (NOS) Code A420 or an Aircraft Ordnance Technician, Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) 6531 in the USMC. Must have four (4) years of practical experience as an AO technician performing organizational/intermediate level operations and maintenance on AWSE. Experience supporting the AWSE Program along with designation as an AO Quality Assurance Representative (QAR), Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI), or equivalent are highly desired. Duties include interpreting, analyzing, utilizing, evaluating, and recommending improvements to engineering drawings, schematics, parts lists, and specifications, while also assembling mechanical equipment accordingly. Must be able to clearly communicate and understand technical requirements/procedures as they pertain to mechanical/electro-mechanical SE/AWSE, while also being capable of performing test and evaluation of SE items independently. Performance of duties may occur in afloat shipboard environments, along with ashore flight-line, hangar, and AO shop locations. Additionally, must possess or be able to obtain licenses/certifications for US Navy forklifts (up to 20K lbs), Category III Overhead Hoist, Aircraft Maintenance Cranes, SE Tow Tractors, Powered Bomb Hoist, Powered Weapons Loaders, and an Airfield Operators License. Requires a BS in Engineering or Physics. Must have at least three (3) years of experience in Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) engineering or aircraft engineering. Position supports the NAVAIR E3 Aircraft Division. Must be able to apply E3 engineering principles to investigate, analyze, plan, design, develop, implement, test, and evaluate Naval Aviation platforms, weapons, and avionics. Responsibilities include reviewing and preparing engineering and technical analyses, reports, change proposals, and other technical documentation. Tasks also comprise of studying and designing specifications and services related to electrical and electronic systems, such as power generation, transmission and distribution, power systems performance and control, cabling and wiring, lighting, motor control centers, communications systems, cathodic protection, grounding lightning protection, and heat tracing. Machinist / Technician III:
Requires a high school diploma/GED and a minimum of five (5) years' machining experience including the use of CNC and conventional machining equipment/tools. Backgrounds in air vehicle structural modifications, rework, and/or repairs are highly desired. This position manufactures parts and items of equipment from raw stock of metals, metal alloys, and other materials through the use of machine tools and precision handwork. Duties include the set up and operation of most types of machine tools such as CNC machines, lathes, vertical and horizontal boring mills; bench, plain, or universal milling machines; shapers; planers; internal and external grinders; thread grinders; and radial drills. Additionally, tasking will require the use of a variety of auxiliary machine tool attachments such as rotary vises, dividing heads, taper attachments, magnetic chucks, vertical milling heads, tapping attachments, rotary tables, and others. 3D models will be utilized to extract geometry data along with employment of sine vises, rotary indexes, grinders, lathes, and hand tools to perform daily tasking. Must be able to work independently with little to no supervision, and may also be required to perform other tasks on an as-needed basis. Quality Assurance Sheet Metal Technician IV:
Requires a high school diploma/GED and a minimum of ten (10) years' experience in the area of air vehicle structural modifications with particular emphasis on mechanical design, construction, installation and support of aircraft modification and aircraft prototyping designs. Aircraft structural Quality Assurance Representative (QAR), Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI), or equivalent certifications are highly desired. Position requires extensive knowledge of inspection/QA techniques, principles, and equipment including: QA/control methods and practices; hand held inspection tools and measuring equipment (ie calipers, verniers, micrometers, gage pins, thread gages, height gages, bore gages, Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), Optical Comparator, Scanner, etc.); interpretation and application of mechanical and aircraft structural documentation (ie CAD drawings and files); in-depth awareness of commercial and military specifications, procedures and standards that govern mechanical modifications; and complete understanding of modifications performed on air vehicles for the purpose of installing first article prototyping systems (ie NAVAIR 001A and SAE ARP 1870 Bonding & Grounding Aerospace Systems). Quality Assurance Wiring Technician IV:
Requires a high school diploma/GED and a minimum of ten (10) years' experience in the area of air vehicle modification with particular emphasis on electrical design, construction, installation, and support of aircraft modification and prototyping designs. Position also requires extensive knowledge of inspection/QA techniques and principles, as well as a comprehensive and thorough knowledge of the full range of principles related to one or more quality assurance functional programs, such as wiring harness in-processes and installations associated with 027-16 HC-27J MPA, IAW the SAE AS50881 Rev: G and the NAVAVIR 01-1A-505-1 while following the APSD FOD and tool control program; final inspections which include but are not limited to continuity checks, assembly, wire routes (lane designation, color, chaffing, radius bends, strain relief) and harness security; knowledge and utilization of quality assurance/control methods, principles, and practices, including sampling techniques; thorough and detailed knowledge of measuring equipment including Multi-meter, Spectrum Analyzer, Bonding Meter, Calipers, Linear Scale; comprehensive knowledge in interpreting and applying mechanical, aircraft structural and electrical system documentation (ie CAD drawings and files); and complete and thorough knowledge of commercial and military specifications, procedures and standards that govern electrical and mechanical modifications. Other duties may include performing repairs, fabrication, modification and installation of electrical wiring harnesses, cables, wires, wiring assemblies and associated parts. This position also requires the ability to lead other technicians and to coordinate efforts to accomplish a task, as well as to communicate with the project engineer/designer on any issues pertaining to the task. Requires a high school diploma/GED and a US driver's license; no specific experience necessary, however warehousing and/or aircraft hangar support experience is highly desired. Position provides support for the NAVAIR Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) Branch, including loading/unloading trucks, moving supplies and materials, stacking materials for storage, collecting refuse/salvageable materials, and digging/filling earth excavations. Additional responsibilities involve moving anechoic flooring, aircraft slings, mobile test vans, and antenna in accordance with standard operating procedures. Other duties involve using a pick, shovel, and rake; cleaning culverts and ditches; operating power lawnmowers; moving/arranging office furniture and related items; relocating automotive and engineering equipment; and be able to perform additional tasks on an as-needed basis. Position requires a high school diploma or GED and a minimum of three (3) years office-related administrative support experience, along with proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). Additionally, position requires being able to communicate effectively, demonstrate good customer service skills, work independently and in a team environment, and type a minimum of 40 words per minute. Proficiency in use of Defense Travel System (DTS), BASICS II, Common Message Processor (CMP) for Naval Messages, Aircraft and Personnel Automated Clearance System (APACS), and MS Access are highly desired. Computer Specialist (Programmer):
Requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical specialty. Basic experience includes at least three (3) years of computer systems related support, and a minimum of two (2) years' in the following software development related areas: LabView application programming environment; programming with C/C++, C#, VHDL, and/or Java; data acquisition devices; relational database operations; GUIs; software applications requirements research and analysis; software design, development, coding, troubleshooting, debugging, and documentation; and full software life-cycle development methodologies. Positional duties involve applying computer systems and IT programming principles to develop, maintain, and troubleshoot software programs that are used to control and monitor test articles while recording data from multiple data systems. This position will also perform full-life cycle application development of complex computer-based test systems using LabView and text-based programming, and will provide inputs to software user documentation, comply with information security mandates, and support Configuration Management requirements. Junior Electrician / Technician:
Requires a high school diploma/GED; completion of a technical school is highly desired. Engineering Technician (ATE/TPS):
Position requires a High School diploma or GED, completion of a Consolidated Automated Support System (CASS) Operator/Maintainer course, and four years' experience operating/maintaining CASS stations. Qualification as a Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) and/or CASS calibration technician is highly desired. Must be familiar with the use of common and peculiar shop tools and test equipment. Functional duties include providing support to engineers and technicians in the maintenance and operation of electronic Consolidated Automated Support Systems (eCASS) within a test and evaluation environment. Additional duties include the preparation of engineering and technical analyses, reports, change proposals, and other technical documentation, as well as performing functions such as Operational Test Program Set (OTPS) testing, government acceptance testing, and other U.S. Navy acquisition and sustainment support. Sr. Electrical Engineer:
Candidate requires a BS degree in electrical engineering from an accredited ABET college or university. Must have at least 8 years of experience supporting RDT&E programs for military aircraft/weapon systems, including 6 years performing in the function areas described below. Must have demonstrated experience directing, monitoring, and/or participating in the installation, configuration, calibration, and operation of engine test systems, environmental chambers, associated instrumentation, and/or data acquisition systems used for testing propulsion and electrical power systems. Prior DoD acquisition work experience is preferred. The candidate should be capable of managing programs including writing proposals, developing program plans, and providing briefing material. Functions involve applying engineering principles to modify and upgrade laboratory electrical and instrumentation systems in support of power and propulsion RDT&E programs. Prepares procurement specification inputs, interface drawings, installation design packages, and calibration procedures to accommodate unique test requirements. Oversees systems modifications, installation, integration, and checkout functions. Performs test planning, data collection, and test data analysis. Candidate requires a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited ABET college or university. Must have at least 4 years of experience supporting RDT&E programs for military aircraft/weapon systems, including 2 years planning, directing, and/or participating in aircraft and laboratory testing. Functions entail providing support for electrical power quality testing and evaluation, including voltage and frequency transients/modulation, voltage distortion, and power interruption on various aircraft, shipboard, ground vehicle, and vendor prototype components and equipment. Additionally, the candidate will interface test articles with programmable power supplies and data acquisition equipment to conduct power quality tests, followed by analysis of test article responses for compliance with MIL-SPECS/MIL-STDs. In particular, candidate must have experience with MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-1275, and FAA RTCA DO-160. Position also requires knowledge of test planning, data collection, data analysis, test report writing, and presentation of results.
